Wild Growth is here

Longvinter 1.1 Wild Growth and Island Studio

Longvinter left Early Access with version 1.0 on 21 February 2025, three years after it opened. Update 1.1, Wild Growth, followed on 16 April 2026 with a new island area and an engine upgrade, and Island Studio, a custom island editor, arrived on 10 October 2026.

Early Access24 February 20221.021 February 20251.1 Wild Growth16 April 2026

01

Wild Growth (1.1)

Teijo, a swamp island reached by boat from Sgt. Lake, is a high-risk PvP area where tents cannot be placed. The update also brought cows and sheep, farming POIs, Gun Game and Team Deathmatch at the Activity Park, teleport gates, sleeping bags and storage wagons.

02

Unreal Engine 5.7

Wild Growth moved the game from Unreal Engine 5.4 to 5.7. Uuvana calls the upgrade vital for future console and cross-platform support, and expects better Chaos physics performance from it.

03

Island Studio

A map editor for creating islands, placing objects and setting up quests and gameplay, with Lua scripting for game rules, inventories and custom UI. The same patch cut unnecessary server work on recurring world checks to reduce lag.

04

Updating your island

Uuvana's server FAQ says to update with SteamCMD and restart. In our panel that is Steam Update followed by a restart.

RAM for Longvinter Server Hosting: How Much Each Plan Gets

Uuvana's minimum for a Longvinter server is 3GB of RAM on Windows and 2GB on Linux, with a 3GHz CPU. That is the floor for a quiet island, so our bundles start at 8GB on 10 slots and rise to 20GB on 48 slots, which leaves room for busy markets, lots of tents and long sessions between restarts.

  • Up to 10 friends on a private island

    Plan: 10 Slots
    RAM included: 8GB

When to add more: Seldom. It is already well above the official minimum.

  • 11 to 20 players, a small community

    Plan: 20 Slots
    RAM included: 12GB

When to add more: If the island fills with player vendors and camps, 16GB adds headroom.

  • 21 to 30 players, near the default cap

    Plan: 30 Slots
    RAM included: 16GB

When to add more: Packed minigame nights at the Activity Park can justify 20GB.

  • 31 to 48 players, a public island

    Plan: 48 Slots
    RAM included: 20GB

When to add more: Large crowds or a custom island can go to 24GB or 32GB.

RAM tiers on the order form: 8GB, 12GB, 16GB, 20GB, 24GB and 32GB. Change tier later from the client area and the island stays as it is.

DDoS protection

Attack traffic is filtered before it reaches the island, so market day stays online.

Before you set sail

Longvinter Server Hosting Essentials Before You Order

Five things worth knowing before your first night on the island.

  1. Stop before you edit

The server saves about every 10 minutes and can overwrite a config edited while it runs. Stop it, edit Game.ini, then start it again.

  2. Admin IDs are EOS IDs

Copy each admin's EOS ID from the game settings into AdminSteamID, with a single space between IDs.

  3. Passwords: letters and numbers

Uuvana advises using only letters and numbers in the server password.

  4. Tents and decay

MaxTents caps how many tents players can place (2 by default) and TentDecay clears abandoned ones. A building-heavy PvE island may want a higher cap.

  5. Ports are handled

A home server needs UDP 7777 and port 27016 open. Ours run in our data centres with the ports already set, so all you share is the address.

Answers

Longvinter Server Hosting Questions

Quick answers to what new Longvinter server owners ask us.

Getting started

How quickly is my Longvinter server ready?

It is set up automatically when your payment clears, within 20 minutes, and the panel login arrives by email.

Can I move my island from a home server?

Yes. Stop both servers, copy the Longvinter/Saved folder from the old one (Uuvana's own backup step copies exactly that folder), upload it with SFTP and start the server. Take a panel backup of the new server first.

How do I make myself an admin?

Copy your EOS ID from the game settings, add it to AdminSteamID in the GM_Longvinter section of Game.ini, and restart. Several admins go on the same line, separated by spaces.

Which location should I choose?

Run the ping test on this page from your PC and pick the lowest result for most of your group. All 9 locations cost the same.

Island settings

How do I turn PvP off?

Set PVP=false in Game.ini and restart. Longvinter servers run with PvP on unless you change it.

How many players can a Longvinter server take?

The MaxPlayers setting defaults to 32 and can be changed in Game.ini, and Uuvana notes that real capacity depends on hardware and network. Our plans cover 10 to 48 slots, and other sizes up to 100 are on the order form.

Why is my island listed in the wrong region?

Add a ServerRegion line to Game.ini with EU, NA, SA, AS or AU, then restart the server.

Does Longvinter keep its own backups?

Yes, if you turn on SaveBackups: the server then saves a backup once a day into two separate folders. It is off by default. Our offsite copies and the Backup Manager work either way.

Updates and platforms

What did the Wild Growth update add?

Version 1.1, released on 16 April 2026, added the Teijo swamp area for high-risk PvP, farm animals, new minigames, weapons and arrows, and moved the game to Unreal Engine 5.7.

Can PlayStation players join my server?

Not yet. Longvinter is on Steam for Windows today. Uuvana has announced a PlayStation version with cross-play, but no release date had been published when we checked on 22 October 2026.

Billing and plans

How much does Longvinter server hosting cost?

The 10 slot plan is the cheapest, at €4.08 a month. Every plan is listed above for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, and the longer terms cost less per month.

Can I upgrade my plan later?

Yes. Add slots or RAM from the client area when the island gets busier, and your world stays where it is.

Is there a contract?

No. Monthly billing renews month by month and you can cancel at any time. The 3, 6 and 12 month terms are paid upfront at a lower monthly rate.

What Longvinter Is and Why a Server Helps

Longvinter is an open-world multiplayer sandbox from Uuvana Studios. You arrive on Longvinter Island as a researcher, start at a research camp, buy tools, sell what you gather and decide whether the other researchers are friends, rivals or targets. Fishing, farming, cooking, crafting and trading fill the days; mercenaries in bunkers, caves and oil rigs provide the danger; and you can build a camp almost anywhere you like, with anyone you like.

Uuvana runs official servers, but they follow official wipe schedules and capacity decisions; in April 2026 it closed some monthly wipe servers because too few people played on them. A server of your own removes that uncertainty. The island, the camps and the market stay until you decide otherwise, and the rules are yours: PvP or PvE, tent limits, trader spawns and the daily restart time.

From Early Access to Wild Growth

Longvinter opened in Early Access on 24 February 2022 and reached 1.0 on 21 February 2025. The years since have been about stability and new content, and a few changes matter directly to server owners.

  • June and July 2025: the move from Unreal Engine 4 to 5, which let Uuvana re-enable Easy Anti-Cheat. The first attempt was rolled back, and because saves are not backwards compatible, official servers went back to the previous day's backups.
  • September 2025: a run of fixes for server crashes and performance, including oil rigs running about 50% faster.
  • 16 April 2026: Wild Growth (1.1) with the Teijo swamp, farm animals, minigames and Unreal Engine 5.7.
  • 10 October 2026: Island Studio, Lua scripting and less server work on recurring world checks.

Game.ini, Setting by Setting

A Longvinter server is configured through Game.ini, which has two sections: GI_AdvancedSessions for how the island is listed and joined, and GM_Longvinter for the gameplay rules. These are the settings Uuvana documents, with their defaults.

Uuvana's sample file uses Tag=none while the settings list calls it ServerTag, so check which one your server reads after a restart. Every change needs a restart, and the server should be stopped before you edit, because it saves about every 10 minutes and can write over a file changed under it.

PvP or PvE: Choosing the Island's Rules

Longvinter's default is PvP, and the game is built around it: alliances, contested areas, raids on camps and, since Wild Growth, the Teijo swamp as a high-risk zone where tents cannot be placed. That suits a community that enjoys betrayal as much as fishing.

Plenty of groups prefer a calmer island, though. With PVP set to false, the threats come from the mercenaries and the environment, and the social side moves to trading, farming and building. When Uuvana polled its players about wipes in November 2024, it wiped the PvP servers but left most PvE servers alone, because base building is more enjoyable with plenty of resources. Decide before you invite people, write the rules into ServerMOTD so every sign repeats them, and add a ServerTag such as PVE so the right players find you.

Slots, RAM and Performance

Slots are the number of players who can be online at once. The default MaxPlayers of 32 is a good guide to what the game expects on a normal island, which is why our plans run 10, 20, 30 and 48, with sizes up to 100 on the order form for bigger communities. Uuvana's own FAQ is clear that the real limit depends on hardware and network.

The official server minimum is 3GB of RAM, but a minimum is a floor, not a target. Memory use grows with everything the server tracks: camps, placed objects, player vendors, crops and animals since Wild Growth. Uuvana has said that the sheer number of placed objects made some of its Asia servers unstable, so a building-heavy island deserves headroom. Our plans include 8GB to 20GB, and tiers up to 32GB can be added later without moving the island.

Admins, Passwords and VPN Checks

Admin rights come from the AdminSteamID line in the GM_Longvinter section. Despite the name, it takes EOS IDs, the Epic Online Services IDs that each player can find in the game settings. To add an admin:

  1. Ask the player to copy their EOS ID from the game settings.
  2. Stop the server and open Game.ini in the File Manager.
  3. Add the ID to AdminSteamID, separating several IDs with single spaces.
  4. Save the file and start the server.

For a private island, set a Password using only letters and numbers, as Uuvana advises. CheckVPN is on by default and checks connecting players for VPNs. Leave it on for a public island, and switch it off only if a trusted player has to connect through a VPN.

Saves, Backups and Daily Restarts

The island lives in the Longvinter/Saved folder, which is also what Uuvana's backup instructions copy. The server writes to it about every 10 minutes. With SaveBackups set to true, it also keeps a daily backup in two separate folders, a useful extra layer that is off by default.

RestartTime24h sets a daily restart hour on a 24-hour clock, so 6 means six in the morning, server time. A daily restart keeps a long-running Unreal Engine server fresh; pick an hour when your players are asleep and mention it in ServerMOTD. Our Scheduled Tasks can add a backup shortly before that restart.

Mods, Island Studio and What Comes Next

Uuvana has long supported creators. Its modding project on GitHub explains how to build new items, placeables, weapons and even custom maps, and mods are shared through the Steam Workshop with an uploader built into the game. Island Studio, released on 10 October 2026, goes further: a map editor for custom islands, quests and gameplay, plus Lua scripting for rules, inventories, callbacks and custom UI.

Because Island Studio is so new, read Uuvana's latest notes on hosting custom islands before you build a community around one, and test on a copy of your world first. Looking further ahead, Uuvana has announced a PlayStation version with cross-play. Until it is released, a Longvinter server is for Steam players on Windows.

What to Compare Before You Rent a Longvinter Server

Longvinter hosting offers look similar at first. These are the details that matter once the island is busy.

  1. Access to Game.iniYou need to edit every key yourself, from PVP to AdminSteamID, without waiting on a ticket.
  2. RAM in the base priceCheck what memory the price includes and what the next tier costs. Busy islands with many placed objects use more than the minimum.
  3. Update speedAfter a patch, players on the new version cannot wait long. Look for a one-click update.
  4. Backups you can restoreMake sure you can take and restore snapshots yourself, and ask how far back offsite copies go.
  5. Locations you can pingTest latency from where your players are, then set ServerRegion to match.
  6. Billing termsCompare monthly and longer terms, and look for setup fees or minimum contracts.
