V Rising server hosting: a vampire with a crossbow and a vampire with sword and dagger stand back to back under a full moon

Your castle, your rules, always online

V Rising Server Hosting

A private game ends when its host logs off. A dedicated V Rising server keeps the night going: castles stand while their owners sleep, rival clans fight on the rules you set, and the world is waiting for whoever logs in next.

Rule the night from your browser

Run Your V Rising Server Hosting from One Panel

Restarts with warnings, Steam updates, Discord messages, mods and the two settings files all sit in the same web panel, so day-to-day admin never needs a remote desktop.

Gaming Deluxe game server control panel with the server menu, connection details and Stop and Restart buttons

The Gaming Deluxe control panel, pictured with a Windrose server. V Rising servers use the same panel and menu.

Scheduled Tasks

Choose Backup and Restart with Messages: the server warns players 10, 5, 2 and 1 minutes ahead, saves the world, restarts and takes a backup.

Steam Update on a timer

A Steam Update task with Update only if a new version is available restarts the server only when Stunlock has actually shipped a patch.

Service Settings

Edit the wording of restart and update warnings, or paste a Discord webhook so your channel hears about restarts, updates, starts and stops.

Mod Manager

Install BepInEx from the Frameworks category, then list Thunderstore mods in VRising.mods and let the ThunderStore.io Mods button fetch them.

Configuration Files

Open ServerHostSettings.json and ServerGameSettings.json in the browser Text Editor instead of downloading and re-uploading them.

File Manager and FTP

Upload a save from your own PC, add plugins by hand or download BepInExModPack.exe for players who need matching client files.

Patch status

V Rising 1.1 Invaders of Oakveil and What Comes Next

V Rising left Early Access with its 1.0 release in May 2024 and received its last major content update, 1.1 Invaders of Oakveil, in April 2025. Since then Stunlock has shipped balance patches and hot fixes, several of them server-side.

Early Access17 May 20221.0 release8 May 20241.1 Invaders of Oakveil28 April 2025Latest hot fix11 September 2026

01

Oakveil arrived in 1.1

The free update added the Oakveil Woodlands, Megara the Serpent Queen and her Venom Blades, Castle Arena duels, three new weapons and seven new spells.

02

New content needed a new save

Stunlock said players had to start a new save to see the 1.1 content. A 1.0 world kept working, just without Oakveil.

03

Patches still arrive

Patch 1.1.13.0 landed in May 2026 and Hot Fix 12 in September 2026, adding a server-side check against a multiplayer exploit. Keep your server updated.

04

No new content update planned

In March 2026 Stunlock wrote that it is not building another content update, so no new save should be needed soon. The studio is working on a new game set in the same world.

Mods & rules

Mods and Custom Rules on V Rising Server Hosting

Most changes need no mods at all: the game settings file controls PvP, loot, castle rules and much more. When you want to go further, the community's BepInEx plugins install through our Mod Manager.

Settings before mods

ServerGameSettings.json and Stunlock's presets cover PvP or PvE, difficulty and dozens of rates. Stunlock leaves private server settings to the host.

BepInEx in one click

BepInEx is a plugin loader, not a mod. Install it from the Mod Manager's Frameworks category; uploading it as a mod breaks the server.

Thunderstore list

Add one Thunderstore package per line to VRising.mods, press ThunderStore.io Mods and start the server once so each plugin writes its config.

Matching client files

Some plugins must also run on each player's PC. The Download BepInEx ModPack button packs your exact plugins and configs into one installer.

Memory, sorted

How Much RAM V Rising Server Hosting Needs

Stunlock publishes no memory figure for the dedicated server, so our plans start at the free 10GB tier and add memory as the player count rises. More players means more castles and more fights loaded at once.

    Plan: 10 Slots
    RAM included: 10GB

When to go bigger: Rarely, even with a few mods

  • Small public or mixed-clan server

Before the first castle heart

V Rising Server Hosting Essentials Before You Order

Five points that save time on your first night.

  1. PC and PS5 are separate servers

Stunlock ships separate server builds for the PC and PS5 versions. These plans are for PC players on Steam; order the V Rising PS5 server for PlayStation.

  2. Two files, two jobs

ServerHostSettings.json sets the name, password, slots and listing. ServerGameSettings.json sets how the game plays.

  3. Admins go in adminlist.txt

Add each admin's SteamID on its own line, then type adminauth in the in-game console. No restart is needed.

  4. RCON needs a password

If you switch RCON on in the host settings, Stunlock requires a password. An empty one is not accepted.

  5. Decide on wipes early

Tell players whether the world is permanent or resets on a schedule before anyone lays a castle heart.

Answers

V Rising Server Hosting Questions

What new server owners ask us most often.

Setting up

How quickly is my V Rising server ready?

Setup starts automatically once payment clears, and your panel login arrives by email. Most servers are online within minutes.

How do players find the server?

Leave ListOnSteam and ListOnEOS on and the server appears in the in-game browser under its name. You can also share the address from the panel's connection details.

Can I password the server?

Yes. Set Password in ServerHostSettings.json and only players who know it can join. Leave it empty for a public server.

Does it work for PS5 players?

Not this product. Stunlock publishes separate PC and PS5 server builds, and we sell a separate V Rising PS5 server for PlayStation communities.

Worlds and saves

Can I bring my private game world to the server?

Yes. Upload the session folder from your PC's save folder into the server's Saves folder, then point SaveName at it. Our guide below has the steps.

Will you move my server from another host?

Yes, free. Tick Migrate Old Host Saved Progress when ordering, then open a ticket with your old host's FTP details and we copy the world and progress across.

Can the world reset on a schedule?

Yes. Stunlock's ResetDaysInterval and DayOfReset settings wipe the server automatically, for example every few weeks. The default is off.

Will a future update force a new save?

Major content updates have needed new saves before, as 1.1 did. Stunlock said in March 2026 that it is not building another content update.

Admin, mods and settings

How do I make myself admin?

Add your SteamID to adminlist.txt in the Settings folder, enable the console in the game's options, press ~ and type adminauth.

Can I run mods?

Yes. Install BepInEx from the Mod Manager, then add Thunderstore packages to VRising.mods or upload plugins to BepInEx\plugins over FTP. Mods are community-made, so test them one at a time.

Can I switch between PvP and PvE?

Yes. Change GameSettingsPreset to another of Stunlock's presets, or edit ServerGameSettings.json directly for your own rule set.

Plans and billing

How much does V Rising server hosting cost?

The 10 slot plan with 10GB of RAM starts at €10.79 a month. Every plan is listed above on monthly, 3, 6 and 12 month billing, and longer terms cost less per month.

How many players can a V Rising server hold?

Stunlock gives 128 as the technical maximum for MaxConnectedUsers, and its own example uses 40. Our plans run from 10 to 60 slots.

Can I change plan later?

Yes. Move to more slots or another memory tier from the client area and your world stays as it is. Monthly plans have no minimum term.

V Rising Server Hosting Explained: A Complete Guide

Why Run a Dedicated V Rising Server

V Rising can be played alone, with friends or against other clans; Steam lists single-player, online co-op and online PvP. When you host a private game from the menu, Stunlock's own documentation explains that a copy of the server runs inside your game client. That works for a weekend, but the world only exists while your PC is on and you are playing.

A dedicated server is the same program running on its own around the clock. Castles keep standing, timers keep ticking and players in other time zones can log in when it suits them. For PvP it also means raid windows and server rules that apply to everybody, set by an admin rather than by whoever happens to be hosting.

Stunlock only ships the dedicated server for Windows, and it publishes it on Steam as a separate tool. We run it for you on 5.0GHz processors with NVMe storage, so you never have to install SteamCMD, open router ports or leave a PC running overnight.

The Two Settings Files Explained

Every V Rising server reads two JSON files from its Settings folder. ServerHostSettings.json describes the server itself; ServerGameSettings.json describes the game players experience. You can edit both from Configuration Files in our panel.

SettingFileWhat it controls
Name and DescriptionServerHostSettings.jsonWhat players see in the server list
MaxConnectedUsersServerHostSettings.jsonThe player limit, technically up to 128
PasswordServerHostSettings.jsonEmpty for public, set for private
ListOnSteam and ListOnEOSServerHostSettings.jsonWhether the server shows in the in-game browser
SaveNameServerHostSettings.jsonWhich world folder the server loads
AutoSaveCount and AutoSaveIntervalServerHostSettings.jsonHow many autosaves are kept and how often they run
GameSettingsPresetServerHostSettings.jsonA ready-made rule set such as StandardPvP
Game rulesServerGameSettings.jsonPvP and castle rules, rates and the rest of the gameplay

Stop the server before editing, change one thing at a time and keep a copy of the working file. A single missing comma in a JSON file is enough to stop the server reading it, so if a change does not seem to apply, check the formatting first.

PvP, PvE and Difficulty Presets

The quickest way to set the tone of a server is a preset. GameSettingsPreset loads one of the rule sets Stunlock ships in the server's GameSettingPresets folder, StandardPvP being the example in its guide, and GameDifficultyPreset picks Difficulty_Easy, Difficulty_Normal or Difficulty_Brutal for the world's enemies.

  • Start from a preset that is close to what you want, then fine-tune in ServerGameSettings.json.
  • PvE servers suit groups who want to explore Vardoran and challenge its bosses together without raids.
  • PvP servers need clear rules: when castles can be attacked, how big a clan may be and how loot works.
  • Brutal is for veterans who already know every boss, not for a fresh community.

Admins, Bans and RCON

Admin rights are tied to SteamIDs. Add each admin's SteamID on a separate line in adminlist.txt in the Settings folder; Stunlock notes the server picks up the change without a restart. In game, the admin enables the console in the options menu, presses the ~ key and types adminauth.

Bans work the same way in reverse. Banning a player from the console writes their SteamID to banlist.txt in the same folder, and you can edit that file by hand to lift a ban or add one in advance.

For remote control there is RCON, configured in ServerHostSettings.json with its own Enabled flag, port and password. Stunlock requires the password to be set, and it should be long and unique, because anyone who has it can run admin commands without joining the game.

Bringing an Existing World to Your Server

Stunlock documents how to move a world from a private game to a dedicated server, so a group that started on someone's PC does not have to start again.

  1. On the host PC, find the session folder under AppData\LocalLow\Stunlock Studios\VRising, in CloudSaves\<SteamID>\v4 or Saves\v4.
  2. Stop your server and upload that whole folder into the server's Saves\v4 folder with FTP or the File Manager.
  3. Set SaveName to the folder's name and leave GameSettingsPreset empty, so the server keeps the world's own settings.
  4. Start the server and check that castles and progress are where you left them.
  5. Delete the private copy from inside the game, not by deleting files, or Steam Cloud may restore it.

Coming from another host instead? Tick the free Migrate Old Host Saved Progress add-on when you order, then open a support ticket with your old host's FTP details. We copy the world and saved progress across for you.

Restarts, Updates and Wipes

Stunlock recommends restarting a dedicated server every day. In our panel, a Scheduled Task using Backup and Restart with Messages does exactly that: it warns players 10, 5, 2 and 1 minutes before, saves the world, restarts and takes a backup. Our guide example repeats it every six hours for a busy server.

Updates matter more than they seem. Some hot fixes, such as Hot Fix 10 in December 2025, only take effect once each server updates, and when 1.1 launched, servers left on 1.0 dropped out of the server list. A Steam Update task with Update only if a new version is available checks on a schedule and restarts only when there is something to install.

Wipes are a choice. Stunlock's ResetDaysInterval and DayOfReset settings reset the world automatically, which many PvP communities use to give newcomers a fair start. A PvE world can stay permanent, especially now that no new content update is planned.

Adding Mods Without Breaking the Server

V Rising mods are community plugins that load through BepInEx. Our Mod Manager installs BepInEx from its Frameworks category; installing it by hand as if it were a mod breaks the server.

  1. Stop the server and install BepInEx from the Mod Manager.
  2. Open Configuration Files, edit VRising.mods and add one Thunderstore package per line.
  3. Press ThunderStore.io Mods and wait for the install to finish.
  4. Start the server once so each plugin creates its config, usually in BepInEx\config.
  5. If a plugin also runs on players' PCs, press Download BepInEx ModPack and share the installer.

Add mods one at a time and test after each one, and prefer plugins that are still maintained. A mod that has not been updated for a long time is the usual suspect when a server stops starting after a game patch. Take a backup before every change so you can roll back in seconds.

Choosing the Right Slot Count

MaxConnectedUsers can technically go up to 128, but the right number depends on how you play. Stunlock's own configuration example uses 40. Private PvE groups are usually far smaller.

CommunitySuggested planWhy
Friends playing PvE10 SlotsPlenty for a group that plays together
Small public server20 SlotsEnough rivals for PvP without an empty map
Several established clans30 SlotsRoom for regular raids and newcomers
Busy public PvP40 SlotsMatches Stunlock's example configuration
Large community60 SlotsFor servers that fill up most evenings

Each step up also adds memory, so you never need to work out RAM separately. Start where your community is today; moving to a bigger plan later keeps the world intact.

What to Compare Before Renting a V Rising Server

The server software is the same everywhere. These are the differences that decide how your season goes.

  1. Memory includedCheck how much RAM comes with each slot count, not just the starting price.
  2. Restart and update toolsDaily restarts with warnings and automatic patching save more admin time than anything else.
  3. Mod supportBepInEx and Thunderstore installs from the panel beat uploading framework files by hand.
  4. MigrationAsk whether moving an existing world is included, and whether it costs extra.
  5. Ping to your clanAiming skillshots punishes lag. Test the locations from where your players live.
