Captain your server

Your Sunkenland Server Hosting Control Panel

The Sunkenland dedicated server is set up with a start script and a world folder. Our panel wraps both in buttons, so loading a different world or renaming the server is a quick job instead of a script edit on a home PC.

The Gaming Deluxe control panel, pictured with a Windrose server. Sunkenland servers use the same panel and menu.

Change Server Name

In Sunkenland the server name is the world's name. The panel button renames the world for you, with the server stopped.

Configuration Files

Edit Start.bat and set the Load world field, so the server starts the world you want.

File Manager and FTP

Upload a world folder from your PC, or download the server's world to keep a copy at home.

Backups and Scheduled Tasks

Take a snapshot before a big raid or an update, and schedule restarts for the quiet hours.

Steam Update

Bring the server up to the newest Sunkenland build after a patch, so updated players can join.

Web Console and Log Viewer

Watch the server start and see players connect, which makes problems quick to spot.

Early Access updates

Sunkenland Updates and Early Access

Sunkenland has been in Early Access since 25 August 2023, and Vector3 Studio counted 58 updates by the game's third birthday in August 2026. Dedicated servers arrived with update v0.200 on 2 February 2024 and have kept improving since.

01

Latest hotfix

Hotfix v0.9.12 on 19 October 2026 fixed boats being lost after route adjustments. Hotfix 0.8.92 in September fixed network lag on dedicated servers caused by ship-mounted weapons.

02

Companions in testing

Update v0.9.10, on the public test branch since 16 October 2026, adds a companion system with three recruitable companions. Test branch features can still change before they reach the main game.

03

Server improvements in 2026

July brought cloud saves, a launch option for custom save paths and a configurable auto-save interval, now 10 minutes by default.

04

Updating after a patch

Players on a new build cannot join an older server. Run Steam Update in the panel and restart, ideally after a quick backup.

Mods & multiplayer

Mods and Multiplayer for Sunkenland Server Hosting

Vector3 Studio has made no official statement about mod support, so this page makes no promises about mods. Multiplayer is Steam co-op on Windows, and the dedicated server simply keeps that co-op world online.

Mods

No official mod support

There is no Steam Workshop or official mod tool for Sunkenland. If you try community mods, take a backup first and expect them to break after updates.

Files are yours

With the File Manager and FTP you have full access to the server's files, including the worlds folder and the start script.

Settings over mods

Most groups shape their game with the world settings chosen when the world is created, such as loot regeneration speed, rather than with mods.

Multiplayer

Steam co-op on Windows

Sunkenland is a Windows game on Steam with single-player and online co-op. There are no console versions, so there is no crossplay to configure.

Passwords and invites

Lock the world with a password. Friends you invite through Steam join without typing it, which Vector3 Studio added in 2023.

Memory, sized for you

RAM for Sunkenland Server Hosting: How Much You Need

Vector3 Studio lists 8GB of memory as the minimum and 16GB as recommended for playing Sunkenland, but gives no figure for the dedicated server. The RAM on each plan is our own sizing from hosting the game: 5GB on 8 slots, rising to 16GB on 15, because more players spread over more islands keep more of the world loaded.

  • Up to 8 players

    Plan: 8 Slots
    RAM included: 5GB

When to add more: As the base, the fleet and the stored loot grow, 8GB adds headroom.

  • Up to 10 players

    Plan: 10 Slots
    RAM included: 8GB

When to add more: If the memory graph nears the limit when the crew splits up across the map.

  • Up to 12 players

    Plan: 12 Slots
    RAM included: 12GB

When to add more: Several bases and boats active at once can justify 16GB.

  • Up to 15 players

    Plan: 15 Slots
    RAM included: 16GB

When to add more: Very old, busy worlds can go to 20GB or more.

RAM tiers on the order form: 5GB, 8GB, 12GB, 16GB, 20GB, 24GB and 32GB. Upgrade later from the client area and the world stays where it is.

Before your first dive

Sunkenland Server Hosting Essentials Before You Order

Five details worth knowing before your first night on the server.

  1. Name = world name

Sunkenland shows the world's name as the server name. Use the Change Server Name button, then load the renamed world in Start.bat.

  2. Choose the world to load

The Load world field in Start.bat decides which world starts. Each world also has a World GUID, shown in the host world settings in game.

  3. Auto-save every 10 minutes

Since update 0.8.40 the dedicated server saves every 600 seconds by default, and the interval can be changed.

  4. Ports are handled

Our network already allows the server's traffic, so you share the details from the panel and nothing needs forwarding.

  5. Back up before patches

Early Access updates are frequent. A snapshot before each one makes any surprise easy to undo.

Answers

Sunkenland Server Hosting Questions

Short answers to what new Sunkenland server owners ask us most.

Getting started

How quickly is my Sunkenland server ready?

The server is created automatically once your payment clears, and the panel login arrives by email. Most crews are in the water within minutes.

How do I change my server's name?

In Sunkenland the server name is the world's name. Stop the server, press Change Server Name, pick the world and type the new name, then set Load world in Start.bat to the new name and start the server.

Can I upload a world I started on my PC?

Yes. Stop the server, upload the world folder with the File Manager or FTP, set Load world in Start.bat to its name and start again. Since July 2026 the game also keeps Steam cloud saves, so check which folder your newest save is in before you copy it.

Which location should I choose?

Run the ping test on this page from your own PC. All 9 locations cost the same, so the lowest result for most of your crew is the right one.

Players and play

How many players can join a Sunkenland server?

Our order form sells 8 to 15 slots, and the plans here cover 8, 10, 12 and 15. Vector3 Studio's store page lists online co-op but does not publish a player cap, so we do not quote one.

Will my base be attacked while nobody is online?

Vector3 Studio fixed this in hotfix v0.2.01: enemies no longer spawn on a dedicated server when no players are on it, so bases are not raided while the crew is away.

How do I keep strangers out?

Set a password for the world. Friends you invite through Steam can still join without it, because invitations skip the password check.

Mods and updates

Does Sunkenland support mods?

Vector3 Studio has not announced official mod support and there is no Steam Workshop. You have full file access, but any community mod is at your own risk, so take a backup first.

What happens when Sunkenland updates?

Players who update cannot join an older server. Run Steam Update in the panel and restart, and the crew is back on the same build. Take a snapshot first, as Early Access patches can change saves.

How are backups handled?

The server auto-saves every 10 minutes by default. On top of that, the Backup Manager takes snapshots whenever you like, and we keep offsite copies for the last 7 days.

Billing and plans

How much does Sunkenland server hosting cost?

The 8 slot plan is the cheapest, at $11.28 a month. The plans table shows every plan for 1, 3, 6 and 12 months, and the longer terms cost less per month.

Can I upgrade my plan later?

Yes. Add slots up to 15, or more RAM, CPU or disk, from the client area. Your world stays where it is.

Sunkenland Server Hosting Explained: A Complete Guide

This guide explains how a hosted Sunkenland server works: what the dedicated server does, how worlds are named and loaded, where saves live, how passwords and invites behave, and how to handle Early Access updates. It is written for whoever keeps the crew's world afloat.

What a Dedicated Sunkenland Server Does

Sunkenland is a survival game set in a world that has been swallowed by the sea: you scavenge sunken ruins, build a base, sail boats and fight off raiders. It plays solo or in online co-op on Steam. In a normal co-op session one player hosts, and the world only exists while that player is online.

Vector3 Studio added dedicated servers in update v0.200 on 2 February 2024, as a free tool in the Steam library called Sunkenland Dedicated Server. It runs a world by itself, with nobody playing on the machine, so any member of the crew can join whenever they like. Hosting it with us puts that official tool in a data centre with a fixed address, fast bandwidth and a panel, so nobody needs to leave a PC running.

World Names, the Server Name and Start.bat

Sunkenland has one habit that surprises new owners: the name players see for your server is the name of the world it runs. There is no separate server name setting, so changing the name means renaming the world and loading it again.

  1. Stop the server from the panel.
  2. Press Change Server Name, choose the world, type the new name and press Execute.
  3. Open Configuration Files, edit Start.bat and set the Load world field to the new name.
  4. Start the server and check the name in the server list.

The same Load world field is how you switch between worlds. Keep a fresh world and a long-running one side by side, and change the field to choose which one the crew plays tonight. Every world also has a World GUID, which the game shows in the host world settings and uses to tell worlds apart.

Where Saves Live and Moving a World

Sunkenland's save handling changed in July 2026. Update v0.8.20 added cloud saves, and update v0.8.30 changed where the dedicated server looks for worlds. Knowing the two locations saves a lot of confusion when you copy a world from your PC.

SituationWorld folder on a Windows PC
Server started without -steamIDAppData\LocalLow\Vector3 Studio\Sunkenland\SteamCloudData\<your SteamID64>\Worlds
Server started with -steamID <SteamID64>AppData\LocalLow\Vector3 Studio\Sunkenland\Worlds

To move a world onto the server, find the newest copy on your PC, stop the server, upload the world folder with the File Manager or FTP, and load it in Start.bat. Vector3 Studio fixed quest progress problems for worlds created in the normal game and then run on a dedicated server in update v0.8.50, so older worlds come across more cleanly than they used to.

Auto-Save and Empty Servers

Update v0.8.40 in July 2026 added a setting for the dedicated server's auto-save interval and changed the default to 600 seconds, so the world is written to disk every 10 minutes unless you change it. A shorter interval loses less progress after a crash; a longer one means fewer save pauses on very large worlds.

An empty server is a safe server. Since hotfix v0.2.01, enemies no longer spawn on a dedicated server when nobody is online, so your walls are not tested by raiders while the crew sleeps. Together with our offsite backups for the last 7 days and the panel's snapshots, a lost evening of building is always recoverable.

Passwords, Invites and Who Can Join

A Sunkenland world can be protected with a password, and the game remembers your last world settings, including the password, when you create the next one. Three details from Vector3 Studio's update notes matter for a server owner.

  • Invites skip the password: a friend who joins through a Steam invitation does not need to type it.
  • Friends or invited players only: an option added in March 2024 can restrict a world to Steam friends and invited players.
  • Choose the server yourself: players pick their server from the list manually rather than being dropped into one.

For a public community, keep a password and share it in your Discord. For a private crew, combine the password with Steam invites, and new members can join without anyone posting it.

Living with Early Access Updates

Vector3 Studio patches often: its third birthday post in August 2026 counted 58 updates since launch, and October alone brought two hotfixes plus a public test of the companion system. Every update means the server and the players must match again.

  1. When a patch is announced, take a snapshot in the Backup Manager.
  2. Run Steam Update in the panel and restart the server.
  3. Join first yourself and check the world loaded as expected.
  4. Tell the crew the server is ready.

Test branch builds, like the v0.9.10 companions update, are for trying new features early. Run them on a copy of your world rather than your main save, as they can change before they reach everyone.

What to Compare Before You Rent a Sunkenland Server

Sunkenland hosting offers can look identical. These details decide how the server feels a few updates from now.

  1. RAM included in the priceCheck how much memory the base price includes and what more costs, rather than comparing slot prices alone.
  2. World management toolsA rename button and an editable Start.bat save a lot of trial and error, because the server name is the world name.
  3. World uploadsMoving a world from your PC should be a simple upload with FTP or a file manager.
  4. Fast updatesEarly Access patches arrive often. Make sure you can update the server yourself straight away.
  5. Backups you can restoreAsk whether you can roll back without a ticket, and how far back offsite copies go.
  6. Locations near your crewCombat and boat fights feel better on low ping. Test before you order.
